The Best of Prague

Romantic, enchanting and whimsical, Prague stole a piece of my heart and is easily one of

my favorite cities in Europe. I can not say enough good things about Prague. For this

reason, I will sum up the activities that left me with such an amazing impression of

this spellbinding city.

WHAT TO DO

1. Old Town - This is where you will find the

fairy-tale like architecture, superb restaurants

and charming shops.

2. Letna Beer Garden - Two dollar beers

with a gorgeous view, what more could you

want? The one downside is that it’s about a

five minute inclined walk to make it to

the top.

3. Prague Castle and Vitus Cathedral - The grounds of this

castle are huge and can take up hours of your time; if desired. I

do recommend getting a tour guide because we were walking

aimlessly around for an hour. On your way out of the castle

grounds there is an amazing view (see title picture).

4. Cross St. Charle’s Bridge -

We crossed over this bridge multiple times

and every time it was just as lively and

entertaining as the last. This bridge is filled

with street artists drawing caricatures,

musicians playing, jewelers sharing their

original work and crowds of people from all

over the world.

5. John Lennon Wall - Was a little

underwhelming, but it is a must if you are in

Prague.

6. Day trip to Vienna - Through GoEuro

you can purchase tickets for either a train

or a bus to Vienna. It is about a

four hour journey from Prague to Vienna.

The travel time may seem long for some,

but leaving early in the morning and

arriving lateevening can leave you tired

and ready for a nap.

7. Get lazy at Střelecký Ostrov -

Střelecký Ostrov is a small island located

under the Legion’s Bridge. It was nice to

lay down on the grass, soak up the sun

and take in the views. We saw a lot of

people paddle boating and wished we

would’ve done that as well.

PERSONAL PUB CRAWL

1. The Ice Bar definitely didn’t meet my expectations. Be that as is it may, I am still glad I

went and experienced it.

2. Hemingway Bar is a speakeasy and requires a reservation. The bartenders create

exquisite drinks that are then served in fun and unique glasses. This is my all-time favorite

bar that I have ever been to. The atmosphere, the people and the drinks left me

astonished and wanting to come back for more.

3. Anonymous Bar was a great way to end the night. I did not order a drink here, but

they all looked delicious. The big attraction with this bar is the atmosphere and theme.

Based on the Anonymous hacking group and their well-known masks, Anonymous bar will

entice you with its unparalleled drinks and Guy Fawkes themed art. This bar is well hidden

and it can be tricky to find. Just look for a heavy, wooden door that should be open ever

so slightly. You will enter into a small courtyard, which will lead you into the bar. You may

want to make reservations as we waited 15 minutes to be seated.

WHERE TO EAT

1. Las Adelitas - Amazing tacos! We got the chicken tacos and

split the prickly pear tacos. The spicy margaritas are also delicious.

2. Good Food - This is the best place to get a chimney cake

(trdnik). They offer a variety of different flavors and it definitely

did not disappoint. I got The King.

3. Kotleta - The food at this restaurant was

to die for. It is located in Old Town and is a great

escape from the crowds of people. They

have outdoor seating in their backyard patio

during spring and summer time. They have

genuine Czech dishes along with other

typical options such as salad and hamburgers. You can’t go wrong with anything you

order here so get adventurous.

4. Cafe Savoy - This place had outstanding brunch. It was packed

so make sure you make a reservation. The food was made with the

freshest of ingredients that made even the simplest of dishes taste

mouthwatering.

WHERE TO STAY

Hostel Santini Prague - Beautiful interior, welcoming staff, spacious rooms and

so many more positive attributes. The only complaint I have is the bathroom. The

bathroom itself is clean and modernly decorated, however, there was only one bathroom

for ten people. As you can imagine this caused some problems. Overall, I would

recommend this hostel to anyone and truly enjoyed my time here.
